Cléophée Donnais

Cléophée Donnais

About me

Cléophée Donnais is a multidisciplinary French artist based in London. Her practice primarily explores the liminality of textiles and painting, as a way to question the dynamics of absence and presence within our intimate spaces.
She combines vibrant colours and fluid brushstrokes with handmade techniques such as: sewing and knitting… Those traditionally feminine viewed skills allows her to question our domestic space and the way we interact with our environment, and as well as our peers. These handmade practices enable her to connect her body to her work while also creating a sense of vulnerability through the softness of the materials or the delicacy of the details shown. By doing so, she invites viewers to “feel” her work, leaving space for personal reflection and self-connection.
Recently graduated from the prestigious Central Saint Martins art school in London, she has made her entry onto the international stage by winning the Phoebe Llewyn Smith Prize and the Eleanor Worthington Prize.
